Cute in Khaki

Right now I am obsessed with khaki. The colour. It's almost up there with my obsession with leopard print. I could go into great detail about how the size of the spots, their diameter, the importance of white within the pattern (no matter what colour background) etc... but that's another post.

I mustn't be the only one because there's a billion fashion editorials out there featuring khaki, some with better headlines than others (note to subeditors: '-luxe' is a dead horse.. move on).

I just bought these from Bardot and they were a steal at $79.. they are a dream to wear and the most beautiful shade of green khaki.

The ultimate shades of khaki are well covered by the new limited edition Chanel nail polishes named Les Khakis De Chanel, which a colleague and friend very cleverly procured ahead of their release last week at Fashions Night Out (I'm green about it, excuse the pun). (Image from chanel.com)

Khaki Vert is definitely my favourite but they have done well by providing options for most skin tones.. if I could dip my wardrobe in these I would be a very happy woman...

On shoots and in catalogues I'm seeing a lot of it paired with neutrals like sand, cream, chocolate browns but what I've been getting excited over is souped up colour (and I am reticent to say so, but 'tribal' does spring to mind) bling in gold and crisp whites bouncing off the khaki.. the perfect antidote to office casual blah.

Sort of along this vein I am pondering buying some sale-priced House of Harlow 1960 accessories at Miijo.com .

Who am I kidding. I'm totally buying it.

Bright lights, love city

I was recently inspired by the love of my life to light up our engagement party with a trillion fairy lights, lanterns and chandeliers. The night was absolute magic. We ate a feast of chinese gourmet bites - sweet, bready dumplings, gingered scallops on dainty ceramic spoons - and swished it down with multiple glasses of sangria (made by daddy dearest and hubby to be) and a plethora of chilled, rosy cosmopolitans. The theme was "In the mood for love". (All photos by the gorgeous folks at Studio Something)

I (heart) our friends

My sweetheart girlfriends helped me scrapbook a billion pieces of tiny paper to comprise a 'guest book' noticeboard which I laboriously covered with photos of hubby to be (h2b) and I. Guests left us love notes which I plan to now scrapbook into the engagement party photo album.
H2b's mum put together romantic tea coloured bouquets of dahlias etc for the tables which unfortunately wilted in the extreme heat, as did H2b.

The only thing I would have changed is the 10 courses of food I missed because I was busily saying hello to everybody! But it was magic. Bliss. And I will remember it forever.
