I was recently inspired by the love of my life to light up our engagement party with a trillion fairy lights, lanterns and chandeliers. The night was absolute magic. We ate a feast of chinese gourmet bites - sweet, bready dumplings, gingered scallops on dainty ceramic spoons - and swished it down with multiple glasses of sangria (made by daddy dearest and hubby to be) and a plethora of chilled, rosy cosmopolitans. The theme was "In the mood for love". (All photos by the gorgeous folks at Studio Something)
My sweetheart girlfriends helped me scrapbook a billion pieces of tiny paper to comprise a 'guest book' noticeboard which I laboriously covered with photos of hubby to be (h2b) and I. Guests left us love notes which I plan to now scrapbook into the engagement party photo album.
H2b's mum put together romantic tea coloured bouquets of dahlias etc for the tables which unfortunately wilted in the extreme heat, as did H2b.
The only thing I would have changed is the 10 courses of food I missed because I was busily saying hello to everybody! But it was magic. Bliss. And I will remember it forever.
